Quote of the
Day
October 10, 2005
I expect to pass through this world but once,
therefore any good that I can do, or any kindness that I
can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now; let
me not defer it or neglect it, for I shall not come this
way again.

Two
Chapters Come Together as One
It started with a conference call of Chapter
Presidents and Adult Advisors. The group was
brainstorming ideas for humanitarian projects when the
LIFE Chapter from the Dallas, Texas area explained how
they were helping Katrina victims who had been displaced
to their area. The GIFT Chapter in Secaucus, NJ
(profiled two weeks ago in the Daily Peace) thought it
was good work and by the next day had decided that they
were going to help.
Over the weekend, Adult Advisor Cathy Sofjan-Wolf and
Chapter President Kevin Williams made the journey to
Dallas to deliver all of the personal supplies they had
gathered with the GIFT Chapter members. They worked on
distribution with LIFE Chapter Adult Advisor Kathy
McGuire, Chapter President Kiely McGuire, many LIFE
Chapter Members and their families. The weekend was a
great success and the embodiment of what really makes
our Student Chapter Network strong: young people working
together in peace.

Kathy McGuire in reflection of the weekend.

What is the Daily Peace?

Whether you have been engaged with a local Student Chapter,
traveled the world on a People to People International
program, or have simply shown an interest in what we do, you
have worked to promote the PTPI mission of Peace through
Understanding.
In an effort to promote peace and share in the community of
people who have worked together in doing so, the PTPI Youth
Department launched the Daily Peace on September 21, 2005 to
coincide with the U.N. International Day of Peace. So please,
whether it is reading the quote, topic of the day, the
international news link, or all three, take a few minutes to
think about how you will live peacefully today.
Also, if you are interested in contributing a story about
meeting an international friend or have pictures or quotes you
would like to see in the Daily Peace, please send them to at
youthdirector@ptpi.org.
We want this to be a site by and for students interested in
working toward Peace through Understanding.
